Important news for CrossFire users

All CrossFire users must update the domain name in their software client Connection Settings by September 30th. After September 30th, you will not be able to connect to Beilstein or Gmelin until you update the domain name to crossfire-acad.elsevier.com. Instructions are below. Also, XP/Vista users can now upgrade to CrossFire 7.1 which allows linking from Beilstein/Gmelin to UC-eLinks for easy access to online articles. XP users can also download Symyx Draw 3.0.1 (formerly MDL Draw) to use as the CrossFire structure editor.

Update CrossFire Domain Name (ALL CROSSFIRE USERS)
In CrossFire Commander:

  • Go to Options, then Connection Settings.
  • Highlight default.prf and click Edit.
  • Change the Host to crossfire-acad.elsevier.com.
  • Click OK and close the Server Profiles box.

The next time you connect to CrossFire, you may be prompted to re-enter the UCB userid and password.
