AMS Proceedings of symposia ebooks available
Adding to our American Mathematical Society (AMS) ebook offerings, the Library recently purchased the online backfiles for both the Proceedings of Symposia in Applied Mathematics (71 volumes from 1949-2012) and the Proceedings of Symposia in Pure Mathematics (86 volumes from 1959-2012). Links to individual volumes will eventually be loaded into our catalog so you can find them in OskiCat and Melvyl. They should also appear in UC-eLinks so you can link to them directly from MathSciNet.
Open access journal Elementa: Science of the Anthropocene
A new open access journal in the earth and environmental sciences, Elementa: Science of the Anthropocene, was recently announced and will begin accepting submissions in April 2013. The journal will publish research on “the Earth’s physical, chemical, and biological systems; interactions between human and natural systems; and steps that can be taken to mitigate and adapt to global change.” It will be organized into six knowledge domains:
- atmospheric science
- earth and environmental science
- ecology
- ocean science
- sustainable engineering
- sustainability sciences
Fees charged to UCB faculty members, post-docs, and graduate students for publishing in this open access journal may be eligible for reimbursement through the Berkeley Research Impact Initiative (BRII).
Paying library fees/fines online

Access problems on new Springer platform
Springer online content moved to a new platform this past Monday. Currently, all UC campuses are experiencing access issues with some books and journals on the new platform. Springer is aware of the problem, and we hope it will be resolved soon.
In the meantime, if you are directed to content on the new platform (at http://link.springer.com) and are unable to access it, try accessing it on the old platform instead. Click on the Access old SpringerLink link on the new platform, then search for the journal, article, or book on the old one.
If you have questions about access on the old or new platforms, please feel free to ask us.
