PAST TENTS: The Way We Camped

Based on Susan Snyder’s popular book of the same name, Past Tents is an affectionate portrait of early camping in the West. The exhibition includes vintage camping gear, rare photographs, and first hand accounts of early wilderness and auto camping. It draws on the wealth of materials at The Bancroft Library and the California Historical Society, providing a light-hearted look at America’s infatuation with the great outdoors.

Opening Reception for the new PAST TENTS Exhibit

The California Historical Society and The Bancroft Library invite you to an opening reception for the new exhibit PAST TENTS: The Way We Camped. The event will be held Wednesday, March 21, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the California Historical Society at 678 Mission Street, San Francisco. Both Susan Snyder and Tanya Hollis, co-curators of the exhibit, will be in attendance. Please come on by and congratulate them for a job well done!
