In 1961, the CDC published its first issue of Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR). A special supplement, called Public Health Then and Now: Celebrating 50 Years of MMWR at CDC was just published to celebrate this milestone.
MMWR has evolved with the years. It "communicate(s) data from national and international surveillance systems, as well as from epidemiologic, statistical, and laboratory research," including information on communicable and non-communicable disease events, behavioral and social science, economics, informatics, genomics, and more.
This superb issue includes articles on laboratory contributions, statistics in public health, immunization, AIDS, injury prevention, global health, and more. Absolutely worth a read!
