Mark Twain completed his autobiography in 1910, but insisted that it not be published until a hundred years after his death, saying that “A book that is not to be published for a century gives the writer a freedom which he could secure in no other way.”
The wait is over. The Autobiography of Mark Twain is being published in print by the University of California Press, and on the web, in a freely available annotated edition, by the library’s Mark Twain Project.
