California Water Atlas now available online

The California Water Atlas, a key resource for this State, is now freely available online.  Produced by the California Governor’s Office of Planning and Research in 1979, this work features not only a massive amount of data but also a variety of innovative and effective visual presentations.

High resolution images of each page and resolution PDFs of the atlas, are available on the David Rumsey Map Collection web site. An online flip-book and other electronic versions (e.g., Kindle) are also available from the Internet Archive.

The digitized version was produced by David Rumsey in cooperation with UC Berkeley’s Water Resources Center Archives. It may be used for non-commercial purposes under a Creative Commons license. For more information, see Mr. Rumsey’s blog post at: Landmark 1979 California Water Atlas Debuts Online.
