Paul Theroux in his article for Smithsonian described Francisco Toledo as Mexico’s most important living artist mixes magical realism with passionate rebellion. I was saddened by his untimely demise in Oaxaca on September 5 as announced by Mexican President Lopez Obrador through his Twitter account. His social activism and art have marked an epoch in Mexico’s and International Art worlds forever. His New York Times obituary emphasizes his incorporation of pre-Columbian techniques in art production. RIP Sr. Francisco Toledo, who will undoubtedly continue to inspire us throughout the world through his unending art!
