The California Department of Public Health announced Friday it is lifting an extended mussel quarantine that affected Humboldt and Del Norte counties, and a health advisory warning consumers not to eat recreationally harvested shellfish from Del Norte County. Recent testing shows paralytic shellfish poisoning toxins, which can cause illness or death, have declined to safe or undetectable levels.
