eLife is the new open-access venue established by a joint initiative of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Max Planck Society, and the Wellcome Trust. It aims to publish the best research from basic and theoretical life and biomedicine subjects through translational, applied, and clinical work. Its website gives this definition:
“eLife is a researcher-led digital publication for outstanding work, a platform to maximise the reach and influence of new findings and a showcase for new approaches for the presentation and assessment of research.”
Recent articles are now available on the eLife website and in PubMed Central. The page on Publishing Fees is brief and interesting.
