After the announcement that Dr. Saul Perlmutter had won the Nobel Prize in Physics, on Tuesday, October 4th; there was a lot of celebrating in the Physics Department at UC Berkeley and at LBNL.
If you were lucky to get a seat in Room 1 of Le Conte Hall you saw the colloquial event for Saul that developed into an entertaining discussion and project history, with many personal anecdotes and stories of team work successes and downturns. Speakers included Chancellor Birgeneau, Richard Muller, Alex Filippenko, Dean Richards, Carl Pennypacker, and others.
