Gus Arriola’s syndicated comic strip Gordo portrays the best of human qualities along with humor, poetry, and memorable art work. Gordo provided a sympathetic introduction to Mexican American culture for many Americans. Mr. Arriola, the sole author and illustrator of this beloved comic strip for over 40 years, has presented the Gordo archives to The Bancroft Library for the continuing delight of generations who remember and for those who have yet to meet Gordo.
Please join the Friends of the Bancroft Library as we honor Gus Arriola at an exhibition and reception. The exhibition will be a sampling of Gordo archives recently presented to The Bancroft Library.
