Introducing: Heyns Reading Room

The Roger W. Heyns Reading Room, located on the 2nd floor of the Doe Library, provides ample space for quiet study in a beautiful setting. This popular study spot has large tables, comfortable arm chairs, computers and large windows to let in the light. Intricate ceiling design, traditional book shelves and Emanuel Gottlieb Leutze’s 1853 painting Washington Rallying the Troops at Monmouth contribute to the picturesque atmosphere.

The Reading Room also houses Doe Library’s current journals as well as many newspapers and magazines. Popular titles include Time Magazine, The Smithsonian, Sports Illustrated, the New Yorker and The Atlantic, and there are also scholarly journals, in print, on subjects in the humanities and social sciences.
