Change in OskiCat Request function

Beginning Wednesday December 2, the “Request” function in OskiCat will only accept requests when there is no copy of the item available from one of the libraries on campus, either for checkout or in-library use.

If all copies of an item are available, the Request button will not appear.

If no copies are available – i.e., if all are either checked out or kept in the Northern Regional Library Facility (NRLF) – the Request button will appear and should work normally.

If some copies are available and others are checked out or in NRLF, the Request button will appear, but an attempted request will be blocked with the message “Sorry, request cannot be accepted. Local copy is available.”

Users who find themselves in this situation but still want to request the NRLF copy should contact the Circulation Desk staff in any of the libraries, who can make the request for them.

We regret any inconvenience this change may cause.  After extensive technical review, we determined that allowing requests from OskiCat in this situation would cause serious problems for those requesting items checked out from campus libraries.
