Rhae Lynn Barnes, the winner of the Bancroft Library's
Hill-Shumate undergraduate book collecting prize this spring, is one
of the three finalists for the national Collegiate Book Collecting
Championship, sponsored by Fine Books & Collections
magazine.
Rhae Lynn's collection, “The Print Culture of American Amateur
Minstrelsy, Blackface Plays, and Dialect in Black Literature (circa
1890s-1940s),” was inspired by her experience as a student of Professor Leon
Litwack, the legendary teacher of History 7B, a course on the United States since
1865.
