Update: The Heyns (East) Reading Room and Rosberg Reading Room reopened on Monday November 15, ahead of schedule. These rooms are located on the second floor of Doe Library (PDF floorplan)
This closure is necessary because of the extent of work needed to replace fire sprinkler pipes as part of a major maintenance project on the 100-year-old building, and the fragility of the plaster ceiling.
These rooms house the current periodicals (magazines and journals) for Doe and Moffitt Libraries. During the closure period:
- Library users can ask at the Reference Desk to have specific items brought out for their use, 10am-6pm Mondays through Thursdays and 10am-5pm Fridays.
- Heavily used titles kept in the “Browse” section will be moved to the Newspapers/Microforms Room for more convenient access.
Online versions of many periodical titles are available on public computers in the Reference Hall (between the North and Heyns Reading Rooms) and in Room 190 (next to the building’s North Entrance).
Other study spaces such as the North Reading Room, Gardner (Main) Stacks, and Moffitt Library will not be affected by this closure.
