EbscoHost Databases: Access problem for certain IP ranges

We have received reports from several locations on campus (Physics Library, Anthropology Library, Sproul Hall) that some EbscoHost databases are having access problems. The affected databases that we know of so far are:

EbscoHost Academic Search Complete

Reader’s Guide

Alternative Press

We have reported the problem to CDL and they are communicating with EbscoHost to get this resolved as quickly as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience that this may cause.

de Gruyter Platform Update

Update: 1/20/2012

According to the latest correspondence with deGruyter, a new release of the plaform will be pushed live today that should correct many problems.  However, there will be an ongoing process of upgrading and enhancing the platform.  If you are experiencing problems, please check back this upcoming Monday (1/23/2012).

*******************************************

As of today, there are still many issues with the new deGruyter platform.  The two main issues are listed below:

1) There is a bug that randomly displays the following error message on any given serial resource: “An error has occurred in the application. Please contact support. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”   This means that a journal may be accessible one day, but gone the next.
2) There are duplicate articles for any given issue.  One will not have a PDF link on the page, but the other duplicate article title (usually further down the page) will have the PDF link.

Please be assured that we are in close contact with the publisher.  Last we heard, they did not have a projected date of when these issues will be resolved.  We will update this page as soon as we have one.

Links to Ebrary ebooks in OskiCat may not be accessible via proxy server

The Ebrary ebook links in OskiCat are temporarily unavailable for users who access them from off-campus via proxy. Please use the link below to search for the ebook:

We apologize for the inconvenience and will work on getting this problem resolved quickly.

deGruyter Platform Down

Back in December, deGruyter attempted to migrate all of their content (ejournals, ebooks, etc.) to a new platform.  Since then there have been several issues with the new platform, which prevent users from accessing the content even if it is searched on the platform itself.  We have been in discussion with deGruyter about these issues, and they reassure us that an update this Friday (1/6/2012) will fix many of the issues.

Anthrosource journals migrating to Wiley Online Library

Anthrosource journals have migrated to Wiley Online Library. The links in OskiCat are not redirecting to the new platform. We are working with the publisher to get the links corrected. Meanwhile try searching for the Anthrosource journals in the Wiley Online Library by using the URL below. Please be aware that the Wiley website only lists current titles.  Issues published under the former title of  a journal can only be accessed via its current title.

Ingenta Connect e-journals are down

We are experiencing extreme slow response time to connect to Ingenta Connect website.  Ingenta Connect has notified us that they are experiencing difficulties concerning the server that store our registration information. You may get a login request when you click on one of our licensed title. We appreciate your patience as Ingenta repairs the problem.

Access problem via Proxy server using Internet Explorer 8

When accessing our licensed e-resources from off campus via Proxy server, users may encounter problems if they are using Internet Explorer 8. If you are unable to access using IE8, please try using another browser (e.g. Firefox) or VPN . We hope to get this issue fixed as soon as possible. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience.

Information on connecting from off campus is below:

Taylor and Francis resources inaccessible via proxy

Updated June 30, 2011: Proxy pac updated.  Resources should be accessible now.

*******************************

Original Message:

As of yesterday June 27, 2011, Taylor & Francis implemented their new online platform, www.tandfonline.com, which has replaced access to resources previously hosted on informaworld.  The new URL, however, has not yet been updated in the proxy pac server, so access for those using proxy will appear blocked.  A request to add the URL to the pac has been submitted, and should appear within 2-5 days if not sooner.
