Use Reference Manager? Get the FREE Program Update!

If you use Reference Manager v. 11 or v. 12, please install the free program update. These are program "patches" that address several functional issues. The best way to do this is by opening Reference Manager and going to Help > Updates, then follow the prompts. After downloading the patch, you will need to exit Reference Manager (and any other open programs) in order to install it. Complete details are at:

http://refman.com/support/rm1101update.asp (Version 11) or

http://refman.com/support/rm1201update.asp (Version 12).

As always, if you are unsure about how to proceed, please contact one of the librarians at the Public Health Library.

Community Health Status Indicators (CHSI) Report

CHSI provides county-level health data updated to 2006 that is viewable online or printable in brochure format. There’s a report for each county in the United States with data on vulnerable populations, measures of health, birth and death, environmental health risk factors, preventive service use and access to care,
among others. Links to data sources are provided as well as the complete downloadable CHSI dataset. CHSI is made possible by a partnership that includes the CDC, National Institutes of Health/National Library of Medicine, Health Resources and Services Administration of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Public Health Foundation and the National Association of County and City Health Officials among others. You can view this report from our Statistical/Data Resources web page at:

National Public Health Performance Standards Program (NPHPSP)

The NPHPSP is a partnership initiative created to provide performance standards for public health systems and encourage their use. Assessment instruments and various tools to aid in the assessment such as a user guide and fact sheet are available. The seven National Partners include the American Public Health Association, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Association of County & City Health Officials, and the Public Health Foundation. The National Partners offer assistance to those using these assessment instruments. You can access this resource by going to our Health Care Planning, Organization,
and Evaluation Resources web page at:

Disability and Health in the United States

This chartbook uses data from the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) to look at health-related differences between isabled and nondisabled adults. It examines sociodemographic characteristics, health status, health risk factors, access to care, and preventive services. Check it out on our Disability Resources web page at:
