Social Welfare Library temporary closure

A series of facilities upgrades will take place this summer to make the current Social Welfare Library more functional and to create space for a newly combined collection of current and high use books supporting social welfare, education, psychology, and social research more broadly (more information about the context of these changes is available online). In order to accomplish the renovation, the Social Welfare Library will close as of Friday, May 16th at 5pm and and will reopen on September 8th.

During the summer, Social Welfare’s course reserves and circulating books will be available in the Education Psychology Library in Tolman Hall. Research assistance will be available by appointment in Haviland as well as by phone or email. Please contact Susan Edwards if you have any questions or concerns.

Expanded Moffitt Circulation hours starting March 31

Circulation service hours at Moffitt Library will be extended to 2 am Sunday through Thursday starting Monday, March 31. This is a change from our current service model in which the circulation desk closes at 10 pm and Moffitt and Gardner serves as a study hall until 2 am. These extended hours will allow library users to check out materials from the MAIN, Moffitt and Course Reserve collections until shortly before closing. In addition, UCB faculty, students and staff will be able to utilize the study rooms in Gardner until 1 am

Also, if you are not already aware, Doe Library is now open Saturdays 9am – 5pm. Library visitors can enter through Doe North, Doe South, and Gardner Stacks as well as have access to Doe Circulation, Graduate Services, and Art History/Classics Library.

It’s The Season Of The Shark: Summer Hours in Graduate Services

It’s time for fun and sun. It’s summer break unless you have to go to summer school. Then its just summer. Even though there are not any summer graduate courses in the Humanities and Social Sciences, we understand graduate students don’t need no stinking classes to get there study on. And with this in mind, we are still open, but with limited hours. Until the first week of July that is. Then Graduate Services goes back to its normal semester hours you are used to.

Now, let’s cut to the chase: From May 13th through July 1st, Graduate Services will be open from 10am to 6pm Monday through Thrusday and 10am to 5pm on Friday. Saturday and Sunday we will be closed. July 2nd to August 10th Graduate Services will return to its normal semester hours: 9am to 9pm Monday through Thursday, 9am to 5pm on Friday, and 1pm to 9pm on Sunday. Saturdays we are always closed.

And that brings us up to the Fall 2012 semester and the beginning of a whole new academic year.

If you really want to cut to the chase and avoid everything I said above, check out the hours for Graduate Services online.

Summer in Alaska: Winter Break Hours in Graduate Services

Starting December 18th and going through January 15th, Graduate Services will have abbreviated hours. Graduate Services will be open Monday through Friday, 10am to 5pm. A month of no nights or weekends. That said, Graduate Services will probably then be like Alaska in the summer this next month. They don’t have weekends there do they? If you have any other questions, I hope our hours online can help you out. They can be found here. Have fun winter breaking.
